Stirfried Vegetarian Mee Hoon With Maggi

Home alone today as hubby is out for a meeting and the kids went to daycare for their tuition lessons the whole day. Hubby called up at 12.30 pm saying that he can’t come back in time to have with me outside. Hence….. I have to settled lunch myself. When I am alone, I will usually cooked Maggi Mee Curry added with lots of vegetables and an egg. But …. not a packet of Maggi Mee left in the cupboard. Got to search through the fridge and see what I can cook out of it. Actually nothing much left in my fridge as I am clearing all my food stuffs in my fridge. The only things I can find is a carrot and some cabbage.

So I cooked a simple stirfried vegetarian mee hoon using Maggi oyster sauce. Well, shouldn’t have called it vegetarian cos I am using oyster sauce. Just that there is no meat added in the mee hoon just purely cabbages and carrots. :) Its a very plain lunch with lots of vegetables and I enjoyed my lunch with a cup of barley drink.

When you come to think about it, even though you have only a handful of ingredients in the kitchen you still can dish out a delicious meal. My version of stirfried vegetarian mee hoon is just using Maggi oyster sauce, soya sauce and sesame oil and off course with lots of cabbages. Maggi oyster sauce made with real oyster extract to provide fresh seafood taste to your dish. It is excellent for stir fry dish too.

Here you go another simple recipe from me.

Ingredients :
150gm meehoon / rice vermicelli, soaked in water till soft. Drained.
1 carrot, shredded
A handful of shredded cabbage
Some chopped garlic and shallots
2 tbsp Maggi Oyster sauce
1 tsp Maggi Seasoning sauce
1/2 tsp sesame oil
1/4 cup water

Method :
1. Heat oil in pan. Sautee garlic and onion till fragrant.
2. Add in carrot and cabbage. Stir fry for a minute.
3. Add in meehoon/ rice vermicelli, water, Maggi Oyster sauce, Maggi Seasoning sauce and sesame oil. Stir fry for another minute.
4. Once the meehoon / rice vermicelli turned soft, turn off the heat and dish up.
