Making food at home is not only friendly to your stomach, but it is very friendly to your wallet too! But the truth of the matter is that many families have working parents who don’t have the luxury of time to make full meals from scratch. This puts spending time in the kitchen on the backburner or right at the bottom of our to-do list. I mean, when was the last time you saw someone make a to-do list which read, spend 2 hours in the kitchen? Not likely.

Before you become the take-away family or the family that lives on frozen food, here are a few simple recipes that take you as long to prepare as watching a funny video online. All the meals given below are nutritious, healthy and are ready to eat within ten minutes! Doesn’t this sound too good to be true? With options given for breakfasts and lunches, this is the type of food that any health expert would approve.


This is supposed to be the biggest meal of the day, but young mums may often forget about it or skip it due to the many things on their mind. Even if they manage to grab a bite or two, the food will be cornflakes or a piece of fruit. These are not enough to fill the tummy to give you energy to run after your little one. These meals would fill you up and bring joy into eating again.

  • Poached Egg with Avocado on Toast

Everybody seems to be going gaga over Avocado, and it makes for a great addition to your meal, taking the conventional poached eggs to another level. You have all the nutrition you need with proteins, carbs and fats and a bit of cheese and fresh herbs sprinkled on top makes it look ever so good.


  • Homemade flapjacks

They’re really simple to make and these are free of gluten but are also high in protein. You can add ingredients like blueberries, bananas, vanilla and oats to make it tasty.

While quinoa takes time to cook, quinoa flakes can be prepared in a flash. They are like oats but are completely proteins. Just prepare them in the milk of your choice, throw in a few berries, add nuts or fresh fruit and your power packed breakfast is ready.

Quesadillas are the quick fix answer to an easy lunch. Pair the black beans with corn, salsa and cheese in tortilla for a fiber packed meal that will keep you satisfied. This is a healthy option for a quick lunch.


  • Turkey Wrap with Avocado

Avocado is an ingredient that is very healthy for your heart. Take the conventional turkey sandwich and give it new life by spreading avocado and mayo on a tortilla. Add a few greens like lettuce and tomatoes to make it a super healthy option and you’re good to go.

  • Salmon and Herbed bean Salad

If you’re bored with the same old tuna sandwich, try this new combination. Take canned salmon, add cannellini beans, fresh herbs and any veggies of your choice for an easy, tasty meal that is easy to make. Wrap it up in a pita or crunch it down with whole-grain crackers.
