Winter Solstice Festival 2009

I have been slow in blogging lately. Don’t know why I am just so lazy to do it. The winter solstice festival is just over for the past few days and which means we are a year older. The kids grown up another year and I am older another year :( . It is a bit scary when time really flies.

This year Tong Chit falls on a Tuesday which is 22nd Dec’09.  My parents nor my in laws didn’t call us back for dinner at home. Since no one called up, we did our own celebration at home. I didn’t take leave on that day because I totally forgot about it. Hence, I prepared all the stuffs the night before.

I am not a tong yuen person and the tong yuen is make for prayers at the altar only. The kids had a few of it.

I get the kids to help me up with the tong yuen because I wanted them to understand and know the root being a Chinese, all in all the tradition and the culture. Both seems to have fun helping me. I think they play with it more as their play dough. Hehehe…

Roast pork. A very last minute one because I can’t get roast pork from the shop near my house. Don’t know why so laku during festive. I think it is a bit mad to queue up early in the morning at the shop to get a piece of roast pork. In future I would rather roast my own roast pork. It is so simple to do it. After few times doing it, I think I master it d. Click HERE for the recipe. I love the crackling skin on the roast pork. Even both kids also fight for the skin. Ooohhh… very unhealthy isn’t it to eat that.

So thats our dinner on that day. We had roast pork, prawn curry, steamed egg for the kids, black beans soup with snake head fish, sang choy and last but not least a bowl of sweet tong yeun.

Some funny pictures of my kids. Hehehe… love it especially my cheeky boy.

After winter solstice festival, very soon CNY is approaching. Last weekend I was at the wet market in SK. First time stepping into the wet market after many months. Wow… the CNY mood is on at the market now. The traders started to sell a lots of CNY stuffs. Gong Xi Fatt Chai song is on loudly. Oohh I can’t wait for it.
