I haven’t been cooking lately and Dearie Suki started to get bored with the food we take away from the restaurant and my cooking become more simpler and simpler at home. I just hate the washing after cooking and I told Dearie Suki if he wanted me to cook then make sure he come back earlier and look after the kids. In that case, I will have more time for cooking and I did miss my cooking. He was telling me he don’t mind to have simple dishes at home as long as all of us eat at home. Think about it true also, it is more healthier to eat at home even a simple one. Nothing better than a home cooked meals.
Looks like I am going to find more time to start back my cooking, if not I think I will forget how to cook. LOL….. Here are some of my simple dishes for my Dearie Suki to drools over it if he read my blog. Hahahahaha…..
Easy peasy one…. steamed minced pork with salted fish and ginger. Dearie Suki can eat 2 plates of rice.
Steamed fish with Kikkoman soya sauce. Not for the kids, too much bones.
Bored of steaming silken tofu with fried shallots? Try this. Add some prawns and oyster sauce over it.
Deep fried calamari. My favourite but when frying it must wear a protector over my body leh. Oil splashing all over the kitchen. Give me more job to clean up the kitchen.
Green, green, green. I don’t mind to have this whole plate of kai lan for dinner.
Months back, I went to Kuantan and bought back one whole Mui Heong Salted Fish. You know, this plate of Mui Heong Salted Fish I fried with some ginger, a whole plate of it is much more expensive than I go out and eat a bowl of noodles.

For 3 weeks I haven’t been blogging about my simple meals. Now got bento and forgot about it. While I was arranging my folder, saw those food pictures pilling up. Ever since I come back from my holiday, I have been getting lazy to cook nice dish for my Dearie Suki. Nothing new so far and I have been cooking a lot of fried rice and stir-fried green vegetables for dinner cos its easy and no need to think so much.

For a change in menu, I uses Petai to fried with rice. I am just getting bored with Petai. See also ‘jelak’.
My dad advised me to blanched the mushroom with hot water before we kept it in the fridge cos according to him all fresh mushroom contains live fungus and it might be poisonous. So to play safe, better blanched with hot water before you store in the fridge.

This is one of my favourite confinement dish. I remember my confinement lady cook this dish for me not using rice wine but only using the hard liquor and Dom. Wah, so syiok! If my mom and sis see this dish I doubt they will be *drooling* for it. Cos we 3 women love this a lot, a lot, a lot.

This is my Dearie Suki favourite. He miss his Fried Siew Yoke at one of the hawker stall in Petaling Street. Nevermind la, my version also the same!

Haven’t post any of my simple meals last week and I am going to do it now. Nothing special just some simple cooking again for Dearie Suki.
I love fried rice. The easist and no need to think so much and the kids like it. Supposed to bake the fried rice topped with some Bechamel cream sauce and cheese like those from Kim Gary style but my parmesan cheese turned bad in the fridge. So, got to forget about it .
Bought 2 Mackeral Fish from the SS13 night market and I de-boned it and make it into fish paste. Shape the fish paste and deep fried it and it turned out to a lovely homemade fish cake and it is so ‘ Q ‘. Still have another Mackeral in the fridge and I am planning to make ‘Otak-otak’ with it.
This is one of my boring dish and almost every week I prepare it cos Petai is in season now and my Dearie Suki favourites. He won’t get bored with it even if I cook it every day. Yer… the toilet stinks with Petai.
Steamed ‘ Wan Yue’ with Kikkoman Soya Sauce. The fish is bought from the SS13 night market again. Cheap and fresh.

Ooops this is not my cooking. Given by my company during the stock take day. Each of us get a packet of 3 pcs KFC plus whipped potato and salad for lunch. All my colleagues can’t finish 3 pieces and the most is 2 pieces. So I ‘ta pau’ back for the kids and they love it so much especially Le-Ann. She only attack the skin with lot of tomato ketchup.
Okie, got to go. My Dearie Suki is calling again to prepare supper cos he is hungry. Lazy to entertain him and going to cook ‘ Ibumie Prawn Instant Noodle’ for him. Easy mah! Really envy him eat so much still so skinny.

Hi! I am back again with my simple meals of the week. This week have been having fish almost everyday cos need to clear off the fish in the freezer. Ooops….bought too much fish lately and got to cut down on fish cos Dearie Suki get bored with it.
Here you go these are what I cooked for him this week. Yippe ! Its Saturday again and looking forward to have a day off in the kitchen.

Me and Dearie Suki favourite kembung fish. We love to deep fried it and eat it with hot and spicy sambal. Dearie Suki always hoping I can cook Sambal Petai whenever I fried the kembung fish.

Love the fried ginger so much. This is the kids favourite fish. They love to eat it with rice and mix it with soya sauce. Ee-Thern most favourite and he can finish a bowl of rice.
Picked some fresh mint which I plant in my garden. Gave some to my neighbour May and she told me to cook it with eggs soup. I tried but don’t really like it. You know how it taste like? Its like drinking a Colgate Soup. Yuck! not going to cook this again.
Sorry too lazy to blog the recipe. Click here if you want to try it out.
This sweet potato leaves or in Cantonese we called it ‘ Farn Sue Yip’. Another green vegetables I plant in my garden. Mom always encourage us to plant vegetables in our house garden. So here it is Mom my ‘Farn Sue Yip’. Save $$$ buying from the market.
Garlic fried rice with anchovies for yesterday night dinner since there are some left over rice in the fridge. I just love fried rice cos it is too easy to prepare. No need to think so much.
I am not good in naming fish. Bought this fish from the night market near my office on Tuesday. Sorry I don’t know what is the name of this fish. If I am not mistaken it is ‘Sek Pan Fish’. Anyone have any idea what it called in English? Anyway, steamed the fish with taucho sauce and the fish meat is so sweet and fresh. Dearie Suki love it so much and he told me that he can finish a whole plate of rice with just the taucho sauce itself.

Another week has gone and here are some of the simple meals I have cooked for Dearie Suki. He has been busy lately and hopefully he won’t complaint much on my simple cooking and I bet he won’t do that to me.
One of my favourite, fried kangkong with chilli padi, belachan and off course pounded dried prawns.
Getting bored with steamed silken tofu. For a change, used Japanese tofu cooked with mixed vegetables and oyster sauce.
The Tilapia fish was given by Aunty Ah Boh. Freshly caught from her fishing pond in her durian orchard. Wouldn’t mind if she give me more of this.
Again Japanese tofu for dinner and this time used fish paste. Arrange cut Japanese tofu on a plate. Then place a tsp of fish paste on top of the tofu. Decorate it with some thinly shredded carrot. Then steam for about 20 minutes. Remove excess water from the plate. For the sauce, I just make a simple oyster sauce gravy to drizzle on top of the steamed fish paste tofu.

One of Dearie Suki favourite. If there is not other ideas what to cook for him, this Sambal Petai with Ikan Bilis will never ever get him bored even if I cooked it EVERYDAY. Oh gosh… I am sick of cooking this.

Here is my another version of simple meals for the week. This week its been quite a busy week cos got to prepare a monthly sales report and purchase orders to the principal. Real headache cos got to plan promotions for the coming Ramadhan period. Time really flies fast and we are now in the 3rd quarter of the year.
So here are some of dishes the I had prepared for my family the last few days .

This curry chicken I used Maggi Curry Paste and it turn out so well and sooooo convenient.

On Tuesday bought ‘Sang Yue’ or in Malay they called it Ikan Haruan from the night market in Subang. Anyone got any idea what is this fish called in English? The ‘Taukeh Soh’ help me to de-boned the fish and teach me the fish bones used it for soup and add in some black beans and few slices of ginger into the soup. Double-boiled the soup in the slow cooker for 8 hours. Wow… the “Sang Yue Soup’ is wonderful and it is so sweet. Definately going to get the fish again if I see it next week.
Click
here for the recipe. The same ingredients used for Kam Heong Lala its just that I substitute with squids.

Chicken nuggets from the brand First Pride is my dearie Suki favourite. Must try this brand and the nuggets is so delicious. The manufacturer is the same as McDonalds.

I have added in some beancurd skin, tomatoes and lettuce into this egg soup.

Also bought 1 kg of fresh water prawns from the night market in Subang. The prawns is quite fresh though and I steamed it and added a 2 tablespoon of rice wine into it. Emmm …. dip it with Kikkoman Sushi Sashimi Sauce and it is so nice.
